This position will be located at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, MO. Essential Functions*:

• Responsible for layout, fabricating, assembling, installing, repairing, testing, and maintaining piping and piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, waste systems, industrial production, and processing systems.
• Selects the type and size of pipe; and related material such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders; according to job specifications.
• Inspects the worksite to determine the presence of obstructions and to ascertain that holes will not cause structural weakness.
• Manipulates pipe using a saw, oxygen-acetylene torch, pipe-cutters, hammers, chisels, and pipe machine.
• Insulates all piping requiring insulation with materials such as fiberglass, calcium silicate, or other similar materials.
• Repairs damaged asbestos insulation by means of encapsulation.
• Welds all piping required by gas, tig, electric, etc.
• Maintains equipment and work area in a clean and safe condition.
• Obeys all safety rules and regulations and wears proper safety equipment.

Position Requirements*:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years’ experience working as a Pipefitter or Plumber; or one year of related Votech training in a state-accredited institution.
• Must be able to complete a 24-hour Asbestos Worker Certification and specific environmental training as required for incumbents.
• Must be able to pass in-house certification within six months.
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
• Ability and willingness to work any shift, including overtime.
• This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls if required.
• This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive.
• This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies.
