Job description

ZTEX Construction is currently looking for Assistant Pipelayers/Laborers to join our construction team. In this position, you will be assisting for laying piping systems to carry a variety of different utilities.

Job Summary

Responsible for assembling, connecting and constructing pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains and water mains. Ensures ground is prepped and trenches dug out for pipes. Aligns pipes and seals joints together.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Align pipes in pipeline sections and slide pipe into trenches.
• Dig trenches with trenching tools and cover pipes once installed
• Responsible for laying piping to carry a variety of different utilities
• Measure the surrounding areas where the pipes are to be installed and cut the pipes to match areas
• Assist Pipelayers with labor work

Requirements

• Knowledge of pipelaying practices helpful
• Ability to perform intense manual labor
• Follow written instructions
• Use tamping machines
• Knowledge of trench shoring and other safety protocols
• Willing to learn construction practices

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements
• Able to work around moving equipment
• Move heavy objects 50 – 90lbs
• Bend or stoop repeatedly throughout the day
• Follow all Safety Regulation
• Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time
• Able to walk on rough, rocky or uneven surfaces at construction sites

• Weekly
• 40 hr plus Overtime as needed
