Position Summary:
The O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center is one of 51 NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the United States and is the only one in Alabama and in the Deep South region.
A comprehensive designation also means UAB Medicine patients have access to leading-edge treatments or clinical trials that they may not otherwise have at local community hospitals or smaller cancer centers. For many, an NCI designation can hold the key to survival. On campus and around Birmingham, the O'Neal Cancer Center is a significant part of our economic powerhouse. The O'Neal Cancer Center powers more than 400 scientists and physician-scientists, cares for 20,000 patients annually, and is home to more than 160 employees, plus all the physicians and clinical staff engaged in cancer patient care.

The Development Coordinator position will work with and assist Directors of Development and Major Gifts Officers in identifying and cultivating potential major gift prospects for the school, center or unit as assigned. To promote the importance of philanthropy at UAB to faculty and staff. To work as integral team member to facilitate successful fundraising programs. Will work on all fundraising projects, reception and allocation of gifts, donor recognition, donor qualification, and donor relations. - Manages data entry for advancement constituent relationship management (CRM)system. Coordinates research on prospects including individuals, corporations and foundations identified by Directors of Development as philanthropic funds for their unit, center or school. - Create digital and print documents and presentations used for fundraising purposes - Build relationships with key donors, Advisory Board members, Young Supporters Board members, and other community leaders.

Salary Range: $19.80 - $32.15
Bachelor's degree in Business, Communication, Marketing or a related field required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Special event fundraising planning, major gift/stewardship experience; event planning, working with donors and volunteers
- Preferred degree program: Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Business Management and 3 years' related experience
- Ability to enter data and manage CRM database for development directors
