Lead Teacher

0 - 6 Years Old

General Description of the Job

Manages a classroom for a group of infants, toddlers, or preschoolers ages 0 – 6 years old.

Executes a variety of activities that will ensure the health and safety of the group.

Reports to the Assistant Director or Director.

Specific Duties of the Job

• Plan and Write appropriate lessons that align with the Discover Academy curriculum standards

• Plan and execute daily activities for ages 0 – 6 years old. Activities follow Discover Academy standards

• Regulate mealtimes

• Follow diapering and potty-training guidelines

• Write and Talk to parents every day about child progress

• Give guided classroom tours to new enrolling parents

• Clean and Organize classroom every day

• Write a one-page report on classroom progress once a month

• Communicate and Enforce classroom structure to assistant teachers

• Work collaboratively with Assistant Teachers

• Understand KDHE and Discover Academy policies and guidelines

1. Knowledge of the Growth Process of children, 0 – 6 years old

2. Knowledge of activities that stimulate infants/toddlers/preschoolers

3. Knowledge of safety issues that surround infants/toddlers/preschoolers

4. Skills in Patience

5. Skills in relaying positive reinforcement

6. Skills in positive communication

7. Skills in time management

8. Ability to organize your environment

9. Ability to plan and prioritize work

10. Ability to move and react quickly

11. Ability to research the needs of infants/toddlers/preschoolers

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $12.00 - $17.00 per hour
