The Renewable Energy Modeler will support Redhorse in its execution of specific task areas related to the U.S. Government (USG) Carbon Pollution Free Electricity (CFE) Technical and Strategy Support contract. The program will establish technical frameworks and analytical tools and methods to inform CFE procurement decisions for the entirety of the federal government. Work will be conducted primarily at Redhorse office locations (hybrid remote work) and on government client site as required. The ideal candidate will live in the DC/Virginia/Maryland area and willing to undergo a background check to obtain a Public Trust.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities for this position include
- Provide modeling expertise in all generation resources of CFE to determine quantity required for the USG to reach CFE goals according to Executive Order (EO) 14057
- Priority consideration will be given to renewable energy generation sources (solar, wind, hydroelectric, other) and energy storage (battery, pumped hydro, etc); but all sources will be considered
- Consider project financing constraints and levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) for the affordability of CFE resources
- Model CFE required accounting for different building types, to include their functions, hours of operation, and climate zone
- Interpret utility load profile analysis to determine optimal CFE procurement strategy for each federal government agency
Minimum Requirements for skills, Experience, and Credentials
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline or Business Administration
- Minimum of six (6) years of experience in renewable energy project development with at least three (3) years of direct experience in RE generation modeling
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification is required
- Local to Washington D.C. metro area preferred, remote work is an option
- Willingness to travel in support of on-site customer meetings
- Willingness to obtain a Public Trust
Desired Basic Requirements for Skills, Experience, and Credentials include
- Knowledge of USG Energy Legislation and Executive Orders (especially EO 14057)
- Experience in or knowledge of utility interval data and electricity pricing
