Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Staff Accountant – Branch Operations. The Staff Accountant – Branch Operations performs diversified and complex accounting transactions and office functions related to the operation of branches within the assigned regions, in accordance with standard procedures.

  • Performs account analysis, reconciliations, and researches outstanding items for assigned branches.
  • Performs financial statement reviews to ensure accuracy. Researches discrepancies, provides recommendations on corrections, and prepares and posts correcting journal entries.
  • Assists with fixed asset additions, disposals, transfers, and recordkeeping.
  • Assists with month-end close and reporting functions, including preparation of accrual entries, calculating monthly commissions as determined by current commission plans, balancing sub-ledger to general ledger accounts, etc.
  • Supports the Branch Operations Accounting Supervisor to drive operational process improvements, adaptations, or revisions in the accounting system and procedures.
  • Performs payroll administrative duties including, but not limited to, transferring payroll files, Work in Process time changes, and investigating and resolving issues.
  • Assists with branch administration of payables including, but not limited to, coding payables, vendor set up, and working missing invoice list.
  • Provides backup for Branch Office Specialist duties including, but not limited to, cash handling activities, ordering supplies, and other duties, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor, including assistance with special projects and ad hoc reporting requests.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related discipline is preferred. Equivalent experience and success may be substituted for degree.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is preferred.
  • Highly organized individual with a commitment to attention to details, meeting deadlines, strong analytical skills and flexibility to assume additional responsibilities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
